Prepping for my mini Valentine’s Campaign
To jump start my convertible Turban Line, INEZGALVEZ, I’ve decided to throw a ‘Valentine’s Preview & Cocktail Party’ in my local, Brooklyn loft. This accessory line has been an evolving side-project and has been getting me by here in NYC. So why not start by throwing a party? This past weekend, my creative side-kick, Avalonne, and I have been on a surprisingly productive streak. We worked on our mini campaign that includes a Flyer and ‘Vday Video Invite’ from yours truly. Will show you the end products very soon. Until then, check out our ‘In-The-Making’ pictures of our process.
I made a Photo Booth Station, where guests can play with props, wear my turbans, and get their pictures taken. Alongside that, Avalonne and I started brainstorming display ideas for the 5 Valentine Turbans that I’m promoting for this romantic season.( Promo Price will be available online from 2.10-2.19, more details coming soon)
Avalonne had the great idea of making heart shaped frames out of ‘Pipe-Cleaners’.

Setting up the frames and hand-picked turbans exclusive for the Valentine’s Promotion.

The Photo Booth D.I.Y. Process
Ended up pulling an all-nighter for this one. I first did a ‘test’ sample, just to make sure it turned out alright. In the end, it was actually much simpler than expected. So the final frame was easier to make. I connected card stock until I was happy with a good enough frame size. Free-handed a design sketch, nothing too perfect. Colored in the shapes that I knew I wanted to keep. Then Avalonne helped me playfully tape Hot Pink and Violet duck tape on the other side. We carefully cut out the design and…*drumroll please*…Wallah! We had our Photo Booth frame.

It was fun and productive weekend and I can’t thank my trusty partner, Avalonne, enough for all her creative input and help.

I am telling you now. Avalonne is about to become a big Fashion Icon and Filmaker, just get ready. Start the stalking now! :D
She has become one of my best friends in this New York period and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her. My creative drive is constantly being fueled by her. I don’t know if it’s because we went to art school, now that we are released, we aren’t exactly sure what to do with ourselves. haha But we cannot help but document, play, plan, create, and just be…artists in New York City. She has become one of my biggest supports out there and I know I’d be so lost without her. If it wasn’t for her encouragement, I wouldn’t have a project of pushing head wraps and turbans!
So to just prove a point, these photos are what I took on a regular ‘hang out’ day. We walk around the city with cameras, accessories I make, her narrative brain, our outfits and our sporadic personalities. I just love it and I wish I could film it because it all seems like an on-going day dream.
For your stalking pleasure, this is Avalonne’s blog!
Photos- Shot at the Waterfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
One of my favorite shots. This wrap will soon crown miss Briana Kranz :)
Also, shot by Jeff Bacani, great photographer AND MUSICIAN!!!
Over the summer, I started making head pieces out of thrifted items and sold them in Brooklyn Flea Markets. What I thought was really great was that the design transformed from a ‘Turban’ to a ‘Head Wrap’. A 2-in-1 packaged deal.
I did a photo shoot with my very talented friend, Jeff, and here is a shot of one of them. But this one, I decided to keep for myself. haha. It originally was a knitted tank with stripes. I like what the lines naturally did to the wrap.
…stay tuned for more.
Also, be sure to check out Jeff’s beautiful work, JEFFREY BACANI.
Here is another piece that I helped make for Cut 25. It was a bag made out of soft leather, lambskin, I believe. My friend had designed the awesome weaving pattern in the front of it. I had constructed the actual bag and made the prototype a few times, using cardboard. It was fun and makes me want to design bags now. haha Hopefully it will get produced. I mean, there are people out there ready to rock something bold like this… especially with ‘construction’ orange as a main color.
Just going to put up the pictures and process of a few of the garments I helped make and designed. Some were for the Fashion Show and some were just for production.
Here is a sheer tank top I was asked to drape, pattern, and design embroidery too. It was crazy seeing it finally finished and hanging up in the showroom, ready for the buyers to come and see. To see the fruits of your labor really make up for what you’ve gone through.
