DAY 3 Mini Miami Getaway - for my roomie’s birthday
Trying to chill out from last night’s madness. Although the weather is overcast and due for some thunderstorms, it’s still perfect to just sit out in our hotel’s, “Lords South Beach”, outdoor patio - sippin’ on coffee, bloggin’ in a bikini top, and taking photo booth pics of the lil’ scene I’m in. Ahh, the life of no time constraints and pressure. haha But this Miami-swag vacation did it’s job of rejuvenation. I should be ready to go back to fashion grinding in NYC…yeah. YEAH?…yeah. okay. LEH GO!

Day 1- Model Casting at the Erin Barr Studio.
Here are a few Behind the Scenes snapshots. The first day was already difficult because you just meet a million, amazing potentials. But in the end, it all boils down to who has the right hair, bone structure, or who can transform easily. Sounds crazy, but it’s the most frustrating part of this process. Also, they all have intriguing personalities and backstories that I get drawn into, especially all the German and Romanian girls that came by. Conversations of Editorials they’ve been in the past, how they’re jet-lagged from flying in from Hong Kong, and other super-models they’ve worked with. I’m just like, “Ok, HI, can we kick it and get some coffee or something?” haha. So now for Day 2. Let’s see how it goes.

I just started working with her and all I can say is that she is amazing, talented, and inspiring! I’ve never been so excited to work with someone as great as her. Especially working in this ruthless Fashion World, she is an outlier about to do great things. The ‘cut-throat’ environment that the Fashion Industry notoriously reaks of is, for the most part, true and forces for unhealthy lifestyles and conditions. Believe me, I’ve seen it and whatever, I’ve paid my dues. But ‘Cut-Throat’ could be done in another light and l’m glad to hear about new up-and-coming companies take it in a positive route. They’re companies that stem from kindness, compassion, and of course, being undeniably DOPE (don’t fake it till you make it). A workplace that thrives off this is a natural stimulant for employees to give their best work, thus gaining top results for the company. (Maslow’s Theory of Motivation is a great source for this) Erin, whether she knows it or not, is changing it. I’ve never thought I’d be THIS willing to push myself all because of kindness and mold to her specific aesthetic and process. People who show kindness and compassion will certainly get kindness and compassion in return… as well as the best WORK from their team. I will grind to the best of my abilities because I genuinely want to help someone like her out.
I wish all success and happiness for her.
